iPhone Stuck on the Apple Logo: How to Fix It

Short answer: An iPhone frozen on the Apple logo often recovers with a force restart. If not, recovery mode can reinstall iOS.

TL;DR: quick fix
  1. Force restart: press and release Volume Up, press and release Volume Down, then hold the Side button until the logo reappears (iPhone 8 or later).
  2. If it is still stuck, connect it to a Mac (Finder) or a Windows PC (Apple Devices app or iTunes).
  3. With it connected, repeat the force-restart button sequence but keep holding the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears.

Is iPhone down?

Before you change settings, check Apple System Status. If there's an outage, wait it out.

How to fix it: step by step

  4. On your computer choose Update first. This reinstalls iOS without erasing your data.
  5. Only choose Restore if Update fails; Restore erases the device, so you'll need a backup.
  6. If none of this works, contact Apple Support.
